Things to See and Do
The historic city of York is a wonderful location for a short break or holiday. The city has over 30 museums including the famous Jorvik Museum, which includes a reconstruction of a Viking village and the National Railway Museum. York is an ancient city full of history and charm. Its snickleways and ancient narrow streets are unspoilt offering tourists the chance to re-capture days gone by. Any visit would be incomplete without a tour of York Minster built over 600 years ago, this medieval masterpiece dominates the city skyline, climb to the top for spectacular views of the city.

Why not take a stroll round the ancient city walls (3 miles of them) or sit back and tour the city from the comfort of a sightseeing bus or riverboat

The Yorkshire Coast, Moors and Dales are all within an hours drive of the city. Take a tour of Goathland famed for being the village that appears in "Heartbeat". Yorkshire offers a variety of landscape from the Vale of York to the beautiful rolling dales to the wild moorland, as well as this the coastline includes a number of towns and delightful fishing villages all offering their own individual charm.

Yorkshire offers some fantastic stately homes to visit including Castle Howard and Harewood House as well as ancient castles, abbey ruins, spa towns and traditional vibrant market towns.
For shopping York offers tremendous variety and ranging from small individual shops within the city centre to large out of town shopping centres including the designer outlet and Monks Cross ( High Street Stores) There is a wide choice of Inns, Restaurants and Cafes to offer refreshment after a busy day sightseeing and shopping!
